Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Kokoda Challenge on Gold Coast will again gather the country’s toughest and most competitive athletes and marathon enthusiasts to showcase courage, endurance, mateship and spirit—the values that are rooted from Australian soldiers who battled on the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea during Second World War.
Dubbed as the toughest endurance event in Australia, The Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast is an extremely demanding physical challenge where competitors are required to cross country. A four-person team event held over 96km trail along the Gold Coast, with a time limit for completion of 39 hours, participants should be completely geared up to overcome gruelling obstacles and cross long distances throughout the entire race. Part of the competition will be to cross 12 creeks and summits of 5,000m of vertical elevation.
Aside from the race itself, participating teams should also get involved in the fund raising challenge for the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program (KCYP) by looking for sponsorship and support. Funds will be granted to KCYP’s youth programmes.
